Greece has completed an undersea power cable connecting the mainland to Crete, part of a plan to expand the energy grid to Cyprus and Israel. The €1 billion project, funded largely by the EU, aims to enhance energy diversification post-Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Energy Minister Stavros Papastavrou emphasized Crete's role in the country's energy transition. However, the project faces challenges due to financial disputes and maritime tensions with Turkey.
