World's rarest lizards were on the brink of extinction until New Zealand conservationists stepped in
Cikk tartalma röviden
The Alborn skink, with only 30 individuals left, is critically endangered and resides in a five-hectare wetland in New Zealand. Conservation efforts are underway to protect them from invasive mice, which threaten their survival. A predator-proof fence has been built, and some skinks have been moved to Auckland Zoo for safety. Funding is essential for ongoing conservation efforts.
