‘You’re poisoning my child’: How Mamme No PFAS helped expose Italy’s PFAS pollution scandal 😔
Cikk tartalma röviden
In June 2025, 11 former executives of the chemical company Miteni were sentenced to 141 years in prison for crimes including water poisoning and environmental disaster. The case arose from toxic PFAS contamination affecting 300,000 people in northeastern Italy. Activist group Mamme No PFAS, consisting of mothers affected by the contamination, played a crucial role in the trial. The ruling was deemed historic, with implications for future PFAS litigation in Europe. Remediation efforts for the contaminated areas are ongoing, but challenges remain.
