The Met will center its 2027 Costume Institute exhibition on everyday materials and garments, reframing denim, T-shirts, plastic, paper and other familiar items as high-fashion. The show, titled extraORDINARY: Fashion and the Poetics of the Everyday, signals a new curatorial direction after cancelling the John Galliano retrospective. Expect installations that transform ordinary objects through craft and experimentation, with loans and new acquisitions alongside the Costume Institute collection.
