The Spanish Ministry of Consumer Affairs has fined five airlines a total of €179 million for abusive practices, including extra charges for hand luggage and reserving adjacent seats for disabled persons and children. Ryanair received the largest fine of €107.8 million. Minister Pablo Bustinduy emphasized that no company is above the law, and the airlines plan to appeal the fines.
